How often should you prune your trees?

This will depend on the species of tree, for example, a willow tree or an apple tree typically should be pruned every year wheras an oak tree should be pruned approximately every five years.    Please give us a call and we will be pleased to advise you.

What is the best time of year to prune your trees?

Thinning and light pruning of trees can be carried out all year round wheras more extensive pruning, hard reductions and pollarding are recommended in the winter months.

How can you keep your trees healthy and looking good?

We recommend regular pruning and keeping the roots healthy by avoiding soil compaction caused by excess weight to the ground.  Avoid burning fires close to trees which will damage the bark and the leaf canopy.

Mushrooms around the roots, bracket fungus on the trunk or limbs, reduction in density of leaf canopy and dead branches are all indicators of an unhealthy and potentially dangerous tree.  Please give us a call and we will be pleased to advise you.
